 C  language is the high level language.

Or middle level language or structure queprogramming language.
                 C high level language because it is not written in machine language it has been written human readable language.It is also called high level  language .
       Now middle level language middle level language because it developed both software each software system software as well as application software .
for example -:
                       operating system (os) ,Unix, linex,etc .unix is the best example of middle level language as well as system software. application software for example -:school management, bank management, library management, online exam management, college Addmision management etc.
             
Structure query programming language because it has structure .this language translated by compiler. Compiler is the faster then interpreter  . It convert whole program at a time that means page by page convert program at a time it is fast run on the task. C language developed by Danie's Ritchie in well laboratory USA.
 C language invented in 1961 but implemented in the market 1971 in current area c as known as base language.
C is also called case sensitive language .
The language which depends of any particular case is known as case sensitive language . C case sensitive language because compiler compile the data whole program of compiler are written in small latter that's way c programs are written in small case. That's called c is case sensitive language.

                 C' is a structured programming language in which program is divided into various modules. Each module can be written separately and together it forms a single 'C' program. This structure makes it easy for testing, maintaining and debugging processes.

'C' contains 32 keywords, various data types and a set of powerful built-in functions that make programming very efficient.Where is C used? Key Applications

' C' language is widely used in embedded systems.


  • It is used for developing system applications.

  • Most of the applications by Adobe are developed using 'C' programming language.



  • It is used for developing browsers and their extensions. Google's Chromium is built using 'C' programming language.



  • It is used to develop databases. MySQL is the most popular database software which is built using 'C'.



  • It is used in developing an operating system. Operating systems such as Apple's OS X, Microsoft's Windows, and Symbian are developed using 'C' language. It is used for developing desktop as well as mobile phone's operating system.

  • Header Files Inclusion: The first and foremost component is the inclusion of the Header files in a C program.
  • A header file is a file with extension .h which contains C function declarations and macro definitions to be shared between several source files.

  2. stdio.h – Defines core input and output functions
  3. stdlib.h – Defines numeric conversion functions, pseudo-random network generator, memory allocation
  4. string.h – Defines string handling functions

                 The next part of a C program is to declare the main() function. The syntax to declare the main function is:

Variable Declaration-----:


 The next part of any C program is the variable declaration. It refers to the variables that are to be used in the function. Please note that in the C program, no variable can be used without being declared. Also in a C program, the variables are to be declared before any operation in the function.

Body-----:

Body of a function in C program, refers to the operations that are performed in the functions. It can be anything like manipulations, searching, sorting, printing, etc.

Return Statement------:

The last part in any C program is the return statement. The return statement refers to the returning of the values from a function. This return statement and return value depend upon the return type of the function. For example, if the return type is void, then there will be no return statement. In any other case, there will be a return statement and the return value will be of the type of the specified return type.

It is a robust language with a rich set of built-in functions and operators that can be used to write any complex program. The C compiler combines the capabilities of an assembly language with features of a high-level language. Programs Written in C are efficient and fast. This is due to its variety of data type and powerful operators.  It is many time faster than BASIC. C is highly portable this means that programs once were written can be run on another machine with little or no modification. Another important feature of C program is its ability to extend itself. A C program is basically a collection of functions that are supported by C library. We can also create our own function and add it to C library. C language is the most widely used language in operating systems and embedded system development today.

 1) Simple


C is a simple language in the sense that it provides structured approach (to break the problem into parts), rich set of library functions, data types etc.

2) Machine Independent or Portable


Unlike assembly language, c programs can be executed on many machines with a little bit or no change. But it is not platform-independent.


3) Mid-level programming language


C is also used to do low-level programming. It is used to develop system applications such as kernel, driver etc. It also supports the feature of high level language. That is why it is known as mid-level language.


4) Structured programming language


C is a structured programming langu age in the sense that we can break the program into parts using functions. So, it is easy to understand and modify.

5) Rich Library


C provides a lot of inbuilt functions that make the development fast.

6) Memory Management


It supports the feature of dynamic memory allocation. In C language, we can free the allocated memory at any time by calling the free() function.

7) Speed

The compilation and execution time of C language is fast.


8) Pointer


C provides the feature of pointers. We can directly interact with the memory by using the pointers.  We can use pointers for memory, structures, functions, array etc.

9) Recursion


In c, we can call the function within the function. It provides code reusability for every function.

10) Extensible


C language is extensible because it can easily adopt new features.
